Shipley & Halmos is a New York City-based clothing design firm founded by CFDA Award-winning designers Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos. Through various internal divisions, the company designs and produces everything from a complete assortment of men’s clothing, footwear, and accessories, to books, art materials, and furniture.

Founders Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos have been friends for the last eleven years after meeting in college, where they studied fine art and finance, respectively. They are two of the co-founders of Trovata. Deciding it was time to start anew, Sam and Jeff relocated to New York City in 2007 and launched Shipley & Halmos.

The Shipley & Halmos clothing collections provide a timeless and essential wardrobe for the lifestyle of men who value forward thinking and individuality. Designers Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos view clothing not as a disguise, but rather as a means to reflect honestly the character of the wearer. Their collections speak more to fit, superior materials, and approachability than to trends. The brand’s designs posses a sense of modernity while always paying respect to classic American tradition in form and idea. With every season, Shipley & Halmos explores the crossroads of where fashion meets reality.

Shipley & Halmos clothing is stocked in some of the world’s premier retailers, including Barneys New York, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Scoop, Odin New York, and Ron Herman, as well as internationally at stores throughout North America and Asia.

Inspired by their love of printed materials, Shipley & Halmos launched the S&H Publishers division in November 2010. Intended to explore printed creativity in fun, usual, and distinctive ways, S&H Publishers offers a variety of independently published books, zines, and journals. The most recent release, “Everyone Must Be Announced”, is a hardcover book containing the music-themed photography of Aaron Stern. The title is distributed globally through a partnership with Distributed Art Publishers (DAP).

Following shortly thereafter, the company released Things!, a collection of art materials, furniture, and other limited edition items. These products are designed with the same wit, function, and integrity that characterize the brand’s ready-to-wear collections.

Design partnerships play an integral role in telling the story of the Shipley & Halmos lifestyle. The brand has collaborated with other creative companies they admire, such as Philip Crangi, Moleskine, and Chocolate Editions. In December 2011, Shipley & Halmos debuted a limited edition fragrance collaboration with Brooklyn-based perfumer DS & Durga.

All of the above items from S&H Publishers and Things! as well as the entire collection of men’s apparel, footwear, and accessories can be purchased through the company’s self-operated e-commerce site.

Sam and Jeff have been active members in the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) since 2006. In May 2008, Shipley & Halmos received the inaugural Young Designer Award from the National Arts Club. Later in 2009, Shipley & Halmos was nominated for the GQ/CFDA Best New Designer Award. In 2011, Shipley & Halmos was a finalist for the Rising Star Award in menswear from Fashion Group International.
