Richard Lambertson

Richard Lambertson is the co-chief executive and creative director of Lambertson Truex. The company was founded in 1998 with partner John Truex and successfully relaunched in 2018. The partners built a reputation for exclusivity, craftsmanship and a uniquely American design vision that was unprecedented in the accessories field.  In 2000, they shared honors as recipients of the CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year award as well as the ACE Award for Design Excellence.

Lambertson Truex was sold to Samsonite in 2007, and in 2009, Samsonite sold the company to Tiffany & Co. Lambertson joined Tiffany & Co. and served as Vice President and Design Director for Leather Accessories until 2013. In 2014, he was hired by Shinola Detroit as Design Director for Leather Accessories to create a new category.

He left Shinola in May 2018 to relaunch Lambertson Truex.

Lambertson began his career in the visual department at Saks Fifth Avenue, and later worked in the fashion office at Bergdorf Goodman and as a buyer and developer of accessories at Barneys New York.  In 1990, he was appointed design director at Gucci, where he was responsible for the development and merchandising of all products and was instrumental in the brand’s successful relaunch. He returned from Milan to become CEO of Geoffrey Beene. He went on to become senior vice president and creative director at Bergdorf Goodman. With responsibilities of running the fashion office, visual merchandising, public relations and store planning.

Richard Lambertson has been a CFDA Member since 2000.
