Randolph Duke

Randolph Duke’s career is marked by its notably diverse evolution in fashion and all aspects of design.

“In the end, it’s all about being passionate about what you do,” the designer says. “I’ve always been driven and inspired while helping women feel beautiful in their own uniquely confident and empowered way!”

Duke has designed swimwear for Jantzen, Anne Cole, and Gottex, then launched his namesake sportswear collection in New York in 1987. Soon after, Vogue heralded him as a rising star, and fine retailers everywhere began scooping up his designs. He has also served as a design director for Henri Bendel, and, in 1996, was hired to resurrect the iconic Halston label where he designed the Halston Signature collection as well as directed and oversaw over 25 design licensees and all of the brand’s advertising campaigns.

In 1998, Duke created an eponymous couture collection that has been worn by Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez, Charlize Theron, Kim Basinger, Hilary Swank, Jennifer Aniston, Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Barbra Streisand, and many others. His collections were carried by the finest retailers internationally as well as specialty stores around the world. He became known as Hollywood’s go-to designer for red carpet events, and, for over 10 years, appeared regularly as an on-air correspondent for ABC covering the annual Oscars red carpet, in addition to being a regular on The View, Entertainment Tonight, Larry King Live, Oprah, and Good Morning America.

Always navigating new opportunities. Duke was one of the first Seventh Avenue designers to create a multi-million dollar clothing and accessory line called The Look, which became a customer favorite on the Home Shopping Network for over 10 years. His subsequent book, The Look, A Guide To Dressing From The Inside Out published by Random House, is an intimate guide for women in search of tips and solutions when dressing themselves and ultimately defining their personal style.

Duke next turned his design passion toward architecture and interior design, creating an award-winning residence in Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills. The project, dubbed Openhouse, was featured on the cover of Architectural Digest, and was awarded the AIA (American Institute of Architects) best residential design of 2008.

Forging forward, Duke opened a unique solution-oriented concept store in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which served as a laboratory for his newfound focus on developing textile-centric design solutions with an eco-conscious awareness and a sustainable platform. Duke is now an ambassador of sorts, supporting global awareness of eradicating textile waste, and developing new and ever-evolving solutions to this unresolved problem.

Duke’s passion for eco-friendly design has led him to Costa Rica where he created the eco resort Casa Eclipso, a completely unique sustainable vacation experience complete with locally-sourced organic materials and locally manufactured textiles, lifestyle clothing, and home furnishings.

After being hired to revive a historical Farmhouse Inn in Rhode Island under his sustainable design platform, Duke relocated to the East Coast, and launched his newest collections: Cross-Cultural-Conscious-Couture (one-of-a-kind world textile creations supporting indigenous weavers and textile creators), Foresta (a collection of eco-dyed natural fiber textiles using locally foraged leaves, flowers and organic matter), and The Loop Project, Duke’s answer to the textile consumption and waste problem, helped and reduced by a simple fashion accessory collection with versatile and multi-purpose properties that make it a potentially groundbreaking solution.

Duke is also planning to launch a namesake charitable foundation with emphasis on the Performing Arts.
