Miranda Morrison

Sigerson Morrison was started in New York City in 1991 by Kari Sigerson and Miranda Morrison. Kari Sigerson grew up in the windswept plains of Nebraska with dreams of footwear wafting through her head. Miranda Morrison grew up on the opposite side of the world in England, where she attended Oxford University. The designers, who met while studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology, were united by a simple design philosophy: “Style, rather than fashion, is key.” It is this shared philosophy that brought the designers to combine their talents, first in a small studio for their handmade designs and eventually into factory production.

Sigerson Morrison has steadily taken hold of the shoe market in the past few years. In October 1995, the company opened its first retail shop in New York City on Mott Street. In February 1997, the designers were awarded the prestigious CFDA Perry Ellis Award for Best New Accessory Designers.

Continuing their growth, Sigerson Morrison opened a shop in London in September of 1999 and a new flagship store opened in New York City in the fall of 2000. To the delight of style mavens on the west coast, the Sigerson Morrison LA store opened in April 2003, and carries their first men’s line, as well as their revolutionary kitten-heel flip flop. They continued their rapid-fire growth this spring with a beach shop in Sag Harbor in the Hamptons, which is filled with bright beach bags and flip flops. Their Tokyo store opened in late April 2003.
