Michael Colovos

Michael Colovos trained at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Polimoda in Florence, Italy and worked in the design studio of Guy Laroche before launching Colovos, his first women’s collection, in the fall of 1998. Colovos, led way to Welkin, a women’s ready-to-wear line, which debuted for the Fall/Winter 2001 season and continued through 2003.

Nicole Colovos started her career in fashion as an editor for Australian Elle. From there she moved to New York where she worked as a stylist before becoming Harper’s Bazaar Senior Market Editor.

Together the two designed and launched the Habitual denim line for the Fall/Winter 2002 season. A commercial hit, their work on the line also earned the pair one of the prizes in the first annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award for
emerging designers.

In 2006, after acquiring the label Helmut Lang, Andrew Rosen hired Michael and Nicole as Co-Creative Directors to re-envision and re-launch the brand. The collection debuted in Spring 2007 and under their helm grew into an influential and highly successful global business.

The Colovos’ live in New York City with their three young sons.
