Martin Cooper

In the heart of Martin Cooper, you will find the essence of a man whose creative focus has propelled artists and designers throughout history. He is an accomplished clothing designer, fine artist and photographer.

Most recently, Cooper served as Senior Vice President, Creative Director, Design for Lands’ End, where he seized the opportunity to partner with retail legend Joseph Boitano to modernize the brand’s approach to innovation and to make its products relevant in today’s marketplace.

Prior, he was the Chief Creative Officer of Belstaff and played an instrumental role in turning Belstaff, into a global luxury lifestyle brand.

Formerly, Cooper served as Vice President and Design Director at Burberry. In this role, Cooper worked closely with Burberry chief creative officer Christopher Bailey in London, overseeing design, production, and manufacturing of the brand’s global outerwear. He also played a key role in the launch of Burberry Sport and Art of the Trench. Cooper was instrumental in infusing Burberry’s rich heritage into sleek modern collectables for men and women and played a major part in turning Burberry from an outerwear company into the global luxury lifestyle brand that it is today.

Prior to his 16 year tenure at Burberry, Cooper started his career working in the women’s design studio at Calvin Klein Collection before moving to Fairbrooke Enterprises as design director for the licensed Calvin Klein and Perry Ellis Coats business.

He is the Founder of OrchisArts, Ltd., an independent consultancy providing one stop, end-to-end creative services to the fashion, interior and art worlds. These services include collection development, strategic re-branding and art direction, sourcing, merchandising, e-commerce platform development, and retail/ interior design concepts.

Cooper, a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Parsons School of Design, has served as a member of Parsons’ Board of Governors and on the President’s Board of Alumni Advisors for the New School University. In 1992, Cooper established OrchisArts, his not-­for-­profit studio that makes contributions primarily to breast cancer organizations that focus on patient’s care & welfare. Cooper and his wife share their time between London, New York City and Old Chatham, New York.
