Manel Garcia Espejo

Manel Garcia Espejo is an American/Spanish fashion designer with more than 20 years of experience in the fashion industry.

Garcia Espejo studied Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion, and moved to New York in 2003 to assist Creative Director Francisco Costa at Calvin Klein Collection as Senior Designer for Evening for collection Runway and Celebrity Custom for the Red Carpet.

Garcia Espejo became Design Director for Evening and Celebrity for Calvin Klein Collection in 2007. In 2013, he was promoted to Vice President of Design Evening for Runway Collection & Celebrity, Red Carpet.
In 2016, when Raf Simons took the realms of Calvin Klein with his right hand Creative Director Pieter Mullier, Garcia Espejo was named Vice President of Design for Calvin Klein By Appointment, creating a curated collection of couture pieces for selected clientele.

Pieces from the Calvin Klein By Appointment Collection were integrated into the fashion runway shows as well as creations for celebrities on the red carpet, including the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Met Gala, and Emmys.
Throughout his tenure at Calvin Klein, Garcia Espejo created some of the most iconic looks for the red Carpet; including the infamous white pearl gown worn by Lupita Nyong’o for the Academy Awards in 2015, kendal Jenner’s Jade beaded gown for the Met Gala, “China through the looking Glass” in 2015, Nicole Kidman’s Calvin Klein By Appointment pleated crimson red gown, at the Emmys’s 2017, to highlight a few.

Garcia Espejo joined The Salting in 2020 as Co-Creative Director; a genderless collection brand owned by both Garcia Espejo and his husband, Founder and Co-creative Director Michael Ward.

The Salting has presented at New York Men’s Day during New York Fashion Week.

The Salting was awarded the Fashion Group International Rising Star for Ready-to-Wear in 2024.
