Lizzie Fortunato

Lizzie Fortunato is the creative director of LIZZIE FORTUNATO, which she founded in 2008 with her twin sister Kathryn with the intent of creating unique accessories that use unexpected materials and champion handicrafts from a breadth of places and cultures.
She studied Art History and English at Duke University and constructs a distinct narrative with her seasonal collections, naming each style, and drawing on historical, artistic, and architectural references.

Fortunato’s designs marry found, reclaimed and precious materials in fashion forward silhouettes, and the sisters’ brand has become synonymous with unique, ahead-of-the-curve accessories that are influenced by fine art, travel, and artisanal craftwork.

The LIZZIE FORTUNATO collection is produced in New York by a team of skilled metal smiths and seamstresses and extreme care goes into each piece. Fortunato added leather goods in 2011. Adorned with exquisite hand-loomed embroidery and beading that she thoughtfully designs, the clutches, shoulder bags, and small leather goods are a natural extension of the line’s mixed-medium statement jewelry.

Both the statement jewelry and the leather goods have attracted the attention of the fashion world’s most prominent tastemakers, and LIZZIE FORTUNATO has twice been recognized by Harper’s Bazaar Magazine as “one of the world’s most promising accessories lines.”

The line has collaborated with ready-to-wear lines including VPL, SUNO, Matthew Williamson, Jenni Kayne, and TOME, and has been featured on the covers of Women’s Wear Daily, W Korea and Vogue China and on the pages of Vogue, British Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and The New York Times.

Lizzie Fortunato has been a CFDA Member since 2015.
