Liz Lange

Liz Lange is considered a retailing pioneer. She created the first fashion-forward maternity brand for women with the launch of Liz Lange Maternity in 1997. With an initial $20,000 loan from her family, Lange started in a small office doing made to order maternity clothing. She soon was being covered by all the fashion press and was dressing every pregnant celebrity including Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts, Brooke Shields, and Kelly Ripa. She grew the business to what is today Liz Lange for Target, a multi hundred million dollar brand: the largest, best known maternity apparel brand in the world. When she sold a majority stake in Liz Lange in 2007 to Bluestar Alliance, it was reported in the Wall Street Journal and WWD as a $50 million transaction. Along the way, Lange grew her business to three high-end flagship retail locations, (Madison Avenue, Beverly Hills and Long Island) and also forged ground breaking licensing deals with Nike, Liz Lange for Swoosh Maternity Athletic apparel, and Target with whom she partnered in 2001 for her secondary line, Liz Lange for Target, which today has the largest maternity apparel market share in the U.S. and is the retailer’s sole offering in maternity apparel.

In 2009, Lange launched her non-maternity clothing collection, Completely Me by Liz Lange, which is exclusive to HSN in the U.S. and is also sold internationally on QVC in Great Britain and The Shopping Chanel of Canada in Canada. In the five years since its launch, Completely Me by Liz Lange has grown into one of HSN’s most successful ready to wear lines. In 2015, Completely Me by Liz Lange took over the former Liz Claiborne racks at Sears Canada with a collection of maternity, ready to wear, outerwear, jeans, T-Shirts and infant clothing.
