Lilly Pulitzer

It all started with a juice stand. In 1959ish, a young, sassy New York socialite named Lilly McKim Pulitzer opened a simple juice stand in Palm Beach. To disguise the juice stains on her clothing, she had a sleeveless dress made with a vividly colored, rambunctious printed fabric. Soon, she was selling more dresses than juice, and Lilly Pulitzer the clothing label was born. The classic shift dress, also known as a “Lilly,” became the unofficial uniform of the affluent at play, and Lilly’s signature pink and green colors emerged as the banner of the authentic Palm Beach lifestyle. Today, more than 50ish years later, Lilly Pulitzer continues to define resort chic with its iconic printed apparel and accessories for women, children and men.
