Kerry O'Brien

Kerry O’Brien is the owner/designer of the commando brand of intimate apparel and hosiery sold by the best retailers in the world. Commando is at the intersection of function and fashion. The designs are exciting, contemporary and supremely comfortable.

Kerry is on an endless journey to discover best-in-class, luxury, technical fabrics that are meticulously engineered to fit a woman’s body perfectly and beautifully. She strives to illicit an emotional connection with her designs through flattering silhouettes, bold and beautiful prints and sometimes, a sense of humor.

She comes to the fashion industry with a unique background.

Prior to founding commando in 2003, Kerry worked for ten years in New York City at two of the world’s largest public relations agencies. From 1998-2001 Kerry was Senior Vice President and Director of Financial Media Relations for Weber Shandwick where she specialized in media relations surrounding mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, financial disclosures and corporate/CEO positioning. She managed Fortune 500 accounts including AON, Kodak, Medtronic and US West/Qwest. Prior to that she worked at Edelman Financial where she was named Vice President at age 25, the youngest in company history.

Kerry also worked in the worlds of media and politics at CNN and ABC News: Nightline in New York and in the offices of the Democratic National Committee and Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell in Washington, DC.

Kerry is a 1993 graduate of Bentley College and holds a B.S. in Business Communications. She lives in Shelburne, Vermont with her husband and business partner, Edward Biggins, and their three children.
