Julie Alkire

HAUS ALKIRE is a designer womenswear collection founded in 2012 by Jason and Julie Alkire. The duo met at the University of Houston.

Julie Alkire has been primarily self taught from being in the industry since 2001 though she did learn to sew and make patterns from her grandmother as a teenager.

The husband-and-wife designers founded the label on the principle that meticulous product design, presented in a thoughtful and personal environment has the ability to elevate and solidify the consumer to brand relationship. Storytelling and deep narratives are a part of each collection which is known for superior craftsmanship and fit, custom textiles, advanced draping and tailoring, and original artwork prints created in-house by Jason.

Several accolades include a 2012 ECCO Domani Fashion Foundation award for womenswear and the Fashion Group International Rising Star award for womenswear in 2015.

Prior to fashion, the couple founded Spoon magazine, with Julie serving as Editor-in-Chief. After Spoon , she founded the Julie Haus, collection, which was sold in nearly 400 stores worldwide including Barneys New York, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Takashimaya, Henri Bendel, Via Bus Stop, Beymen, and Harvey Nichols.

The designers have their own retail shop in Tribeca and sell their collection to specialty retailers around the world. The label name is a combination of Julie’s maiden name and the couple’s surname.
