Henry Jacobson

Following the tradition of his family who made a living in the fashion and apparel industry, Henry Jacobson formally established his fashion career when he founded Mulberry Neckwear in 1988. By 2001, he launched Henry Jacobson, the lifestyle collection for which he is best known.

Currently, Jacobson designs men’s collection sportswear, tailored clothing, furnishings, accessories and jewelry. Jacobson’s clothing express a California sensibility in its fit and function while the detail of his constructions reflects a craftsman’s point-of-view. The tension between the dichotomy of East Coast traditionalism and the freedom and adventure of the American West brings relevance and inspiration to his work.

Jacobson’s design sensibility is a direct reflection of his life, how he lives and the environment he grew up in. His primary inspiration is life out West – its beauty, originalism and individualism. Jacobson’s work represents the embodiment of what it means to be authentically Western while looking eastward. This is in counterpoint to the long tradition of aspirational easterners co-opting the iconic symbols of the American West. Jacobson’s clothes are meticulously cut, sewn, finished and fitted. His attention to detail and the quality of his garments reflect the artisanal craftsmanship of the American West.

Jacobson’s first book on men’s fashion, American Gambler, is scheduled for publication in 2017.
