Fabrice Simon

Fabrice attended F.I.T. where his formal art training took form in textile design and fashion illustration, a seeming natural extension of his early exposure to couture. He launched his own design company at the age of 25, FABRICE DESIGNS LTD. with a small investment of $3,000.00. Original, one-of-a-kind hand-painted crepe de chine tunics were an immediate success, followed by revolutionary beaded designs with a dark sparkle, adding a newly hip and sexy look.

Fabrice was named ESSENCE magazine’s Black Designer of the Year in 1980, and in 1981 he won the Coty Award. The media declared his designs as wearable art. His career exemplified the black American experience success story…he truly lived the “American Dream.”
