Cathy Waterman

Cathy grew up in California on the endless possibilities offered by broad vistas and foggy mornings by the sea. California discourages boundaries and in her mind, as in her work, there are none. Images of summers, barefoot riding bareback, fairy tales on winter nights, and the sun setting over the ruins of Cleopatra’s baths all merge to inspire her to capture the music of life.
She sold her first collection in 1990 and has been an inspiring force in fine jewelry ever since. Her pieces are lyrical and elegant, combining Old World sensibility with a modern soulful feel. She is deeply passionate about her work, which is intensely personal.

Her studio has an unlisted number and she does not show. Word of mouth has brought her the core of stores to which she adds but two each year.

A colleague once described Cathy’s jewelry as being the perfect object to connect the passion of the wearer to that of the artist. That makes her feel good.
