Calvin Klein

The clean, modern and sensual style of Calvin Klein has influenced the way the world looks at fashion and design and has established Calvin Klein as the creator of a global brand that encompasses fashion, accessories, fragrance and home.

Ever since childhood, Calvin Klein wanted to be a designer. As a boy, he taught himself to draw and earned a diploma at the New York High School of Art and Design. He launched his own label in 1968 after graduating from New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology and his world soon included his couture line, Calvin Klein Collection for Women and Men, cK Calvin Klein for Women and Men and cK Calvin Klein Jeans.
Calvin Klein pioneered designer jeans and redefined the idea of underwear, making designer quality apparel affordable for virtually anyone. Klein has never shied away from controversy in advertising. One of the most memorable ad campaigns of his career includes one in which Brooke Shields states “Nothing comes between me and my Calvins.”

For his consistently cutting edge marketing, he received the President’s Medal from the Art Director’s Club for outstanding creative achievement in advertising. Calvin Klein has also received 7 awards for outstanding design from the Council of Fashion Designers of America, including a Lifetime Achievement award in 2001, and many others.

In 2003, Calvin Klein Inc. was sold to Phillips Van Heusen Corporation and Calvin Klein was retained to consult with the company for the next three years.

Calvin Klein designs modern clothes for modern women and men. With clean lines and spare shapes, he has created a singularly modern architecture of simplicity and elegance, defining the sensibility that is consistently woven through every collection and product line. Each item is designed to reinforce the Calvin Klein aesthetic of minimal, sexy and natural beauty.
