Paris Fashion Week is in full swing, and on Friday night, all eyes turned to the next generation of American fashion.
The CFDA and Vogue kicked off the two-day Americans in Paris showroom with an intimate cocktail celebrating this year’s 10 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists—and, for the first time in the program’s history, every one of them made the trip to Paris.
Co-hosted by Chloe Malle, Paloma Elsesser, and Allison Sarofim, the evening brought together designers, editors, friends, and members of the global fashion community for cocktails, conversation, and a first look at the collections before the showroom doors officially opened for the weekend.
Aisling Camps, Amir Taghi, Bad Binch Tongtong, Emily Dawn Long, Jamie Haller, Juju Vera, Lii, Milamore, Miss Claire Sullivan, and Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen all brought their own slice of American fashion to Paris.
Notable guests included Gabriela Hearst, Carlos Nazario, Aurora James, Yumi Shin, Denise Magid, Lynn Yeager, Raul Lopez, Henry Zankov, Gigi Burris O’Hara, Tonne Goodman, Iris Law, Cole Escola, Hillary Taymour, LaQuan Smith, Sophie Buhai, Daniella Kallmeyer, and Roopal Patel, as well as Friends of the CFDA Casey Kohlberg, Macrene Alexiades, and John Block.
The Paris moment was particularly special this year. Along with bringing all 10 finalists together overseas for the first time, the CFDA provided each designer with a travel stipend to support their participation.
During the evening, CFDA Chairman Thom Browne welcomed guests and thanked the night’s co-hosts, while giving special recognition to Allison Sarofim, chair of the Friends of the CFDA, whose generous support of Americans in Paris helps give the emerging American designers the kind of global visibility that can make a real difference.
And with that, the Americans officially arrived in Paris!
