Todd Snyder has partnered with luxury automotive house Balmoral Defender to introduce The Rugged Gentleman Collection, a limited-edition series of restored vintage Land Rover Defenders that merges heritage restoration with contemporary design.
The collaboration debuts with Edition 001: City Black, a reimagined 1998 left-hand-drive Land Rover Defender 90 originally registered by Rover España in Madrid. The vehicle has undergone a complete body-off restoration under The Balmoral Standard, the brand’s proprietary framework governing sourcing, mechanical restoration, craftsmanship, design execution, and global compliance.
Working closely with Balmoral Defender’s specialist teams—including second-generation Land Rover experts in England’s Cotswolds, master leather craftsmen in Andalucía, and U.S.-based engineers—Snyder applied his signature approach rooted in tailoring, materiality, and proportion to a vehicle long associated with rural utility. The result is a Defender refined for urban life while maintaining its architectural integrity and off-road capability.
“When I was a teenager, I went to my first classic car show and have been fascinated with cars and automotive design ever since,” Snyder said. “To partner with Balmoral Defender has been extraordinary. My love for materiality, design, and craftsmanship is only equal to Balmoral Defender’s commitment to best-in-class restoration.”
Just 10 vehicles of City Black, the inaugural edition of the Todd Snyder Signature Series, will be produced globally. They are made to order and offered through private access, with prices starting at $305,000. Two additional editions within The Rugged Gentleman Collection are currently in development and slated for release later in 2026.
The collaboration underscores Snyder’s continued expansion beyond fashion into broader cultural authorship—where design, craftsmanship, and heritage intersect.
