At the 50th anniversary of the American Image Awards, hosted by the American Apparel & Footwear Association at Gotham Hall, the fashion industry gathered to celebrate a legacy moment while keeping its gaze firmly set on what’s next.
Among the evening’s most personal highlights, CFDA member Zac Posen was named Designer of the Year, introduced by his longtime friend Katie Holmes. The moment struck a meaningful chord, both a reflection on Posen’s enduring creative voice and a reminder of the relationships that shape American fashion at its best.
At the CFDA tables, that sense of community was fully on display. We were proud to host Emmy- and CFDA Award-winning journalist and the evening’s emcee Alina Cho, alongside Icon Award honoree Ruben Toledo, whose emotional acceptance paid tribute to his late wife and creative partner, Isabel Toledo, was a defining moment of the night.
They were joined by a dynamic group of CFDA members representing the breadth of American design, including Maria Cornejo, Daniella Kallmeyer, Ashlynn Park, Stephanie Suberville, Andre Walker, and Kim Shui—as well as the ever-stylish Molly Ringwald.
Karen Au of NYC factory Glory Apparel, a recipient of the 2024 Fashion Manufacturing Initiative, and Jennifer Guarino, chief executive officer of Industrial Sewing and Innovation Center, represented the strength of American manufacturing and CFDA’s enduring efforts to support supply chain and production in our country.
Together, our tables reflected a cross-section of the CFDA’s creative community: established voices, rising talent, and multidisciplinary contributors shaping the industry today.
Throughout the evening, a clear theme of innovation, responsibility, and evolution emerged with a slate of honorees which included Fabletics (Company of the Year), Timberland (Fashion Maverick), Avery Dennison (Global Innovator), and AFIRM Group (Eco-Steward of the Year).
As a longstanding charitable beneficiary of the American Image Awards, the CFDA Foundation continues to support that future through scholarships, business development, and initiatives that empower designers at every stage.
But for those gathered at the CFDA tables, the night was also something more intimate: a celebration of friendship, collaboration, and the creative spirit that connects American fashion.
