Catherine Holstein’s signature cool minimalism has landed on Madison Avenue. On the intersection of 69th street, KHAITE’s second Manhattan store represents a thoughtful evolution of the brand’s concept within a historic New York City district.

Following the brand’s flagship located at 165 Mercer Street, Holstein partnered with architect Griffin Frazen for the design of the brand’s uptown location.

The materiality behind the store tells its own story. On the exterior, a new façade features custom solid bronze window frames with oversized glass panels that maximize transparency and natural light. The choice of bronze – a noble metal that develops a rich patina over time – creates a minimalist yet distinct presence.

Inside, steel, a signature of the brand’s aesthetic, interacts with the elements, and heat marks and textures from the forging process create an iridescent effect, while the hand-finishing of all materials reinforces the space’s character. Where the SoHo location utilized steel for vertical walls and enclosures, it defines the ground plane and rises to create functional elements here.

The store offers a range of ready-to-wear and accessories collections, as well as exclusive product. The selection will include an edit of made-to-order exotic handbags, including styles created in partnership with Inversa, a U.S.-based company that creates exotic materials from invasive python. In addition, the Madison Avenue location will offer an assortment of vintage jewelry curated by the brand’s style director, Vanessa de Viel Castel.
