Marchesa Spring-Summer 2021 Look 1

A Marchesa moment is always a study in exquisite style, from elaborate garment constructions that rarely look cumbersome to couture materials and delightful details – think guipure lace, embroidery, feathers, and the right amount of sequins. Spring 2021 played to this notion. For Marchesa Couture, Georgina Chapman was inspired by an “imagined tropical island dreamworld,” and judging by this lineup, it’s a destination we should all be heading to. With travel to many places still restricted, Chapman’s collection allows us to dream – just what we need right now.

The Marchesa Notte line perfectly complimented its Couture counterpart. Here, the designer was informed by Frida Kahlo’s La Casa Azul villa, known for its exotic plants and ceramics. The inspiration led to a strong collection of painted and dyed patterns, chiffon tiers, and 3D tropical blooms – in other words, an enchanting landscape.
