This report summarizes a presentation on global fibre production trends given at the APIC 2014 conference. It discusses historical and projected production figures for various natural and synthetic fibres such as polyester, nylon, acrylic and cellulosic fibres. Production of polyester fibre, especially in China, was forecasted to grow the most between now and 2025, driven by limited cotton availability. Acrylic fibre production was projected to decline modestly.
