More than a sewing and innovation center, ISAIC is a national resource for those committed to positive impact through responsible production of high-quality garments with solutions centered around people, education, talent force development and cutting-edge technology.

Our facility is not just a factory, it’s a philosophy.

Located above Carhartt’s flagship retail store in Midtown Detroit, in a space donated and built out by the clothing giant, the ISAIC factory is equipped to meet the needs of today’s brands. Capable of handling large contracts for government and national brands, we can also accommodate short runs with modular cells for on-demand orders.

We believe that sustainability must start with people. When you manufacture with ISAIC, your business invests in our nonprofit institute, which develops an equitable, local workforce, trained in traditional skills and the latest technologies. We are committed to better best practices and making an authentic difference in ethical manufacturing.

ISAIC has highly skilled sewing technicians at the heart of our services. As a center for testing innovation, automation and technology, we’re constantly adding to our portfolio. Current resources include: programmable (CNC) cutting, programmable and multiple stitch sewing, circular knitting, embroidery, digital printing and so much more.

For emerging designers and startups, we have a network of partners to refer those with needs for sourcing fabrics, tech packs and patterns.
