Custom Collaborative

Custom Collaborative, is a non-profit which trains, mentors and advocates for and with low income immigrant women who want to work in fashion. We use intensive training and business development modules to teach them how to achieve economic success for themselves. This 14 week program is led by staff with industry experience. The foundation of the training is instruction in creating custom made clothes; it also includes classes in pattern making, draping , custom/ batch sewing, entrepreneurship and operations. Custom Collaborative also has a small business incubation program and recently began a cooperative enterprise called Fashion that Works; whose owner-members accept small unit production and are based in NY.

Custom Collaborative uses all donated/ recycled fabrics from for this program. We believe that one can create a sustainable and fashionable forward brand. We upscale, recycle and reuse and reduce waste much as possible.

We are also a resource for leftover fabrics that can be purchased from us. Designers should reach out to us if they are interested in this.
