Zero + Maria Cornejo Spring-Summer 2021 Look 1

In a tribute to the city she calls home, designer and CFDA board member Maria Cornejo channeled the resilience of New York City and its inhabitants — the wide spectrum of immigrant communities that dot our boroughs, including her neighborhood of Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.

The brand takes pride in its sustainable, responsible design, boasting a collection largely developed and locally made in New York with upcycled fabrics to last the changing seasons and times. Shirt dresses double as spring coats. She also showed soft brushed terry sweatshirts and hoodies in joyful fuchsia and ivory mélange, and sweats to live in with playful tie-front shorts in linen, viscose and 100 percent undyed cotton. But most notable is the use of denim decorating trench coats, jumpsuits, culottes and pants with graphic lines.

It all came together in a perfect and appropriate marriage of brand consciousness and effortless style.
