Zanna Roberts Rassi is a familiar – and much-loved – face to everyone in this industry, and tonight, she will have the red carpet scoop on all things fashion at the 2016 CFDA Fashion Awards!
Roberts Rassi is CFDA’s Official Red Carpet Host — and you can watch her coverage here on CFDA.com this Tuesday.
The British-born, award-winning journalist, stylist, television host and Marie Claire senior fashion editor will be in prime position to speak to the nominees, honorees and celebrity guests – all dressed in their best clothes and ready to talk fashion, and much more.
Fashion is natural territory for Zanna. When she is not working with celebrities such as, for example, Naomi Watts, Jennifer Aniston, Sienna Miller and Drew Barrymore, she is the E! News Fashion Correspondent, Project Runway All Stars mentor and NBC Today Show fashion contributor. She also a bona fide fashion consultant and co-founder of the new MILK MAKEUP beauty line.
In preparation of the big night, CFDA.com caught up with the fashion favorite to discuss her early red carpet days, celebrity moments she won’t forget and the questions she may ask tonight.
CFDA.com: What are you looking forward to the most on Monday night?
Zanna Roberts Rassi: “Talking to all these incredible stars from a cross section of fashion, TV, music and film. Obviously checking out their outfits and grilling them with fun quick-fire questions!”
CFDA.com: Do you remember the first red carpet you covered and how did you feel that night?
Z.R.R.: “It was the Emmys in Hollywood in 2013. It was 105 degrees and everyone was melting. Literally melting. Makeup sliding off faces and stars virtually slipping in their shoes. It made for some brilliant banter!!”
CFDA.com: Is there a red carpet moment/incident that you will never forget?
Z.R.R.: “I’ve always wanted to interview Lena Dunham. She didn’t disappoint. Funny, open, smart, and cool as. We checked out every one of her tattoos, on camera!”
CFDA.com: What do you hope to see in terms of fashion on Monday?
Z.R.R.: “Well, many of the designers are wearing their own creations….It super-interesting to see how they interpret and style their own looks. One hopes they save the best for themselves!”
CFDA.com: Who is the one designer you definitely want to speak to on the CFDA Red Carpet and what question do you have ready for them?
Z.R.R.: “I’m a fan of asking questions that are completely irrelevant to the night, but that elicit super-fun, insightful answers. Like, ‘What’s on your night stand?’ ‘What did you eat today?’ ‘How many hours on Instagram today?’”
One specific [question] would be to the legend and recipient of the [Geoffrey Beene] Lifetime Achievement Award, Norma Kamali. What was the first piece you designed and did you ever imagine in your wildest dreams you would be here today?
