WWAKE is turning 10 this year, and Wing Yau is celebrating by paying it forward. The CFDA member is ringing in a decade with the annual fundraiser for Win NYC, New York’s largest housing organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness, with a specific focus on women and their families.

Since the inception of the fundraiser, donations have grown from $1,800 in the first year to almost $30,000. In total, WWAKE has raised over $150,000 for unhoused families to date, and there is no stopping here.

“It’s pretty astonishing, considering I started WWAKE in my bedroom,” said Yau. “I’m interested in learning about how far a business can stretch in being purposeful in its existing communities, and then doing it. How can my work as a designer come full circle in the city we live in? How can we go beyond designing beautiful things and actually engage with our community?”

The fundraiser includes extra special WWAKE pieces that otherwise never go on sale, like the Multi-Chain Earrings, the Universe Earrings, select one-of-a-kinds, and more.

“WWAKE has always been about this. It’s not necessarily about “giving back”, like in a charitable way. It’s about growing together,” she added.

The annual Pay-It-Forward sale runs through Sept. 24 on WWAKE.com.
