Viktor&Rolf Mariage Spring 2020 Bridal

As the threads between fashion and bridal become increasingly intertwined, designers are beginning to let the standout styles and themes from the runway influence their bridal lines. That’s what Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren did for Spring 2020, which drew inspiration from their Fall 2018 Haute Couture “Immaculate Collection,” where they revisited 25 looks to mark their quarter-century together as design partners. Fitting that the traditional 25th-anniversary wedding gift is silver, as bold studs and Swarovski crystals dotted the décolleté on everything from a shiny mikado shirt gown to a minidress with a scallop-shaped collar and more.

While last season saw a riot of flowers, the Spring 2020 Viktor&Rolf Mariage collection revealed a modern new side of the brand’s bridal m.o. For starters, the designers introduced separates. Among the highlights: A flirty tulle crop top that brides will want to wear beyond the wedding, and a jeweled button-down with a high-low hem that fell to the floor (no need for a wedding veil!). The end result was refreshingly un-bridal and promised to appeal to those with edgier tastes.

Viktor&Rolf purists will find plenty of playful, petal details in the mix. The tea-length organza dress with a full skirt that explodes into ruffles would be perfect for the post-wedding brunch. While serious fashion lovers who dream of wearing something totally OTT on the big day will bloom in the ball gown covered with broderie anglaise flowers. With a major tulle veil in the same finish, brides can turn the aisle into their own personal runway.
