The CFDA, in collaboration with WONDROS, is proud to present “Transformers and Change: A Narrative on Sustainability” touching on a key pillar of CFDA’s work. Released during UNGA 2021, and on the heels of Climate Week, the video spotlights three transformers – individuals who touched CFDA Sustainability Initiatives and are championing change in fashion through regenerative systems thinking, ingenuity, resiliency, and innovations: Angela Luna, Elaine Gold Launch Pad 2.0 and founder of ADIFF; Uyen Tran, CFDA Design Scholar Innovation 2020 Awardee, student at Parsons MFA Textiles, and creator of TÔMTEX; and Hillary Taymour, CFDA Member and Creative Director of Collina Strada.
These transformers are critical contributors to the growing landscape of sustainable design, known globally for their transformative leadership and as social venture pioneers. The ongoing economic impacts of the pandemic combined with unprecedented urgency for climate action and environmental and social justice create a space for these creators to impact fashion at the intersection of hope and adversity, challenge, and opportunity. They represent the beacons and vanguards of our work.
The future is bright — powered by people and creativity, education and collaboration, and collective invention.
Watch the video to hear from Luna, Tran, and Taymour on how they are using design to transform the industry and help ensure better tomorrows for people and planet.
