Tory Burch sure knows to mark two decades in business. On Monday evening at the glorious New York Public Library, the designer celebrated this major milestone by powerfully pushing her collection into the fashion future.
Burch played with volume and silhouette, at times in architectural, angular and sartorially captivating ways. Take, for example, the raw-cut seams, the squared-off skirts in bold colors, and sharp tailoring. Staples are reinterpreted in new ways.
“We were thinking about making the everyday sublime: an old jacket, a lampshade, even a shower cap,” she said in the show notes.
After the final exit and runway bow, Burch fans – including Natasha Lyonne, Uma Thurman, and Awkwafina – rushed to congratulate the designer.
