Tory Burch is having a moment – a momentum she continued through fall. “We wanted to challenge perceptions of beauty and femininity,” Burch said in her show notes. “We broke down the traditional wardrobe and rebuilt it with an undone attitude.” Indeed, there was a new attitude to the looks, from pleated wool skits seemingly held together by safety pins, to slouchy wool sweaters and pants, big coats and bold color combinations. These were confident clothes, and confidence – the kind “that comes from being unapologetically yourself” – is something Burch aimed for. “Women,” she said, “aren’t interested in rules, and every piece is designed to be endlessly mixed, layered and individualized.”
