With the holiday season around the corner, it’s the perfect time to start putting together those wish lists and thinking about what to get for your loved ones. CFDA Member Todd Snyder presented some viable options as he debuted the first-ever Crafted Collection at his flagship store in Madison Square Park last night: a limited-edition capsule collection of curated items in collaboration with the CFDA and The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Whiskey.

Each piece from the collection is handcrafted, and incorporates wood from barrels of The Balvenie Distillery in Dufftown, Scotland. Ranging from furniture to home décor, they include snare drums crafted from fir timbers, intricate bar carts created from Balvenie barrels, wood charcuterie boards with Balvenie scented essential oils, and a pair of particularly sharp leather dress shoes with a sturdy Balvenie wood heel.

The rugged-yet-refined items perfectly compliment Snyder’s signature tailored suits and elevated casualwear pieces.

The collaboration was a natural fit for Snyder, the Iowa-bred, New-York based designer who counts Balvenie as his “go-to” whisky.

“I discovered them through a friend and fell in love with their whisky,” he said. “I keep turning more and more people onto it because for me it’s truly Scottish whisky, which is important, and I think the quality is just amazing.”

Beyond his personal affection for the brand, the partnership felt like a match made in heaven given the shared passion for honoring heritage while looking towards the future (Snyder has worked in the fashion industry for almost 30 years, and Balvenie celebrated their 50 year anniversary in 2012).

“Authenticity for me is always very important. I look for that when I’m designing, whether it’s a mill I work with or a factory I work with. Having that lineage and that something that makes them good at their craft and good at what they do,” he noted. “It’s always been about the marriage of those two worlds. Taking the old world with a modern sensibility and marrying the two together.”

The collection will be available for purchase at Todd Snyder’s New York flagship store through November 30th, as well as online at toddsnyder.com/craftedcollection through the end of the year.
