The eight Americans in Paris designers in the French capital were in for a true treat on Friday evening.

To mark the return of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund showcase during Paris Fashion Week, the U.S. Ambassador to France, Denise Bauer, opened the doors to the residence to celebrate the designers, the American fashion community at large and Friends of the CFDA and Vogue 100.

“We absolutely delighted to be hosting this event … and to celebrate all of you today,” Ambassador Bauer, in a dress from CFDA member Bibhu Mohapatra, said.

In many ways, the residence is more than just a home for the ambassador. It’s a gathering place for American art and culture.

“It’s a great home, and I feel proud that we’re standing on American land now…and everyone gets to share it,” Mohapatra said.

The guests went from room to room admiring the grandeur and nods to Americana. On hand were CFDA Chairman Thom Browne and CEO Steven Kolb, Anna Wintour, Jordan Roth, Mona Patel, Ana Khouri, Daniel Roseberry, Jennifer Fisher, Allison Sarofim, Renna Brown-Taher, Willy Chavarria, Melitta Baumeister, Marc Alary, Ahlem Manai-Platt, and the Americans in Paris talent: Alejandra Alonso Rojas, Christopher John Rogers, Rachel Scott, Akua Shabaka, Conley Averett, Kim Shui, Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell, and Henry Zankov.

“The group is really well-curated, it’s a beautiful one-stop shop for some of New York’s best talent,” Hillary Taymour of Collina Strada said.

Jonathan Cohen echoed the sentiment.  “I have been watching a lot of them for a few years now and many are friends now,” he said. “Americans in Paris gives them a lot of exposure.”
