Those who have been in the luxury world long enough know MCM as one of the world’s top luxury houses based on distinct codes around lifestyle logo accessories and select ready-to-wear.
Founded in Munich in 1976, MCM is in growth mode, which is sure to accelerate with the new strategic direction and creative team.
Tina Lutz has joined MCM, working in tandem with Katie Chung to lead and develop the brand’s global design and creative direction.
Lutz is no stranger to the CFDA—quite the contrary. A CFDA member since 2006, the Germany native worked for Issey Miyake and Calvin Klein before co-founding the Lutz & Patmos luxury knitwear brand in New York in 2000. She returned to Berlin and launched the Lutz Morris brand of luxury handbags, eventually relocating to Milan.
At MCM, she leads the design and creative direction from the global design studio in Milan as Global Creative Lead, while Chung, who was previously Creative Director at designer label Wooyoungmi and Solid Homme, is now MCM’s Creative Director based in Seoul.
The duo’s first joint collection – for Spring-Summer 2024 – was presented during Men’s Week in Milan on June 18. Titled Made for Movement, it was designed for digital nomads with innovative fabrics speaking to today’s lifestyle, and design codes such as the house’s Visetos pattern, freshly deconstructed and positioned for the future.
