Timo Weiland Fall-Winter 2020

The threads between fashion and interior design are constantly intertwined, and for Fall 2020, Timo Weiland drove that point home with a collection that moved the runway into the realm of décor. At the presentation, models—outfitted in what Weiland described as a “grown-up” new take on uniform dressing—perched alongside mid-century style furniture, objects, and sculptures that revealed a sophisticated side to the brand’s oeuvre. Sharply tailored suits rounded out the more relaxed basics included in the lineup —and everything was washed to perfection, ensuring the clothes felt extra soft, extra comfortable, and just lived-in enough.

Weiland and his co-designers Donna Kang and Alan Eckstein routinely deliver collections woven with a strong color narrative (think pitch-perfect hues that are made to mix and match). After a hiatus, they turned out their signature highly-wearable styles filtered through a hyper-colored, hyper-eclectic lens. While tinted sunglasses, created in partnership with Zenni , made for a rosy view of the world.

A cherry-red double-breasted suit worn sans shirt stood in perfect harmony next to T-shirt knits and chinos rendered in painterly shades of blush, pale yellow, and blue. And the punchy, color-blocked layering made the minimalist silhouettes look that much more inviting. Chalk it up to the inherent benefits that come with a fresh coat of paint.
