Timeless Elegance Defines Michael Kors’s Brooklyn Show

September 12, 2023

Two recent losses played a role in Michael Kors’s show on Monday morning: Joan Kors, his mother who passed away in early August, and composer and songwriter Burt Bacharach, who died in January.

The designer paid tribute to his late mother and ultimate muse with a beautiful collection that made a strong statement for an easy, timeless elegance. Working on the collection, he remembered the travels he took with her around the world – Saint Barths, St Tropez, Capri, Phuket, and more – and her irreverent fashion style. The love shined through with each exit, from sequined lace numbers, shirtdresses, flirty minidresses, and patterned caftans. These were looks tailor-made to kick off those shoes and walk in the sand. As he put it, “Barefoot Glamour” – all played to to Bacharach tunes, from “Walk on By” to “Promises, Promises.” By the time “What the World Needs Now” came on, the whole audience hummed along (Lisa Rinna, for one, sang along loudly).

The air was indeed filled with love, sweet love for Michael.
