What do you get when you combine fashion with virtual reality technology? Google is exploring the answer to that very question with a new six minute documentary in collaboration with Rag & Bone.
The video centers on CFDA Member Marcus Wainwright as he prepared his Rag & Bone label for last September’s New York Fashion Week. “Google wants to show the potential of technology outside of gaming,” explained Julia Hamilton Trost, Business Development & Content Partnership Lead, Google VR.
Produced by Two Bit Circus, the documentary gives users a 360-degree view of the shot, upping the level of engagement and exploration from what an average video can provide. Audiences can virtually interact with Wainwright, wander through Rag & Bone’s offices, or hang out behind the scenes at photoshoot.
The potential of this type of technology, when it comes to major high-end events such as NYFW, opens up an unprecedented window of viewership. “Only a few people in the world get to sit front row at NYFW. VR gives more people access to this information and these experiences,” Trost said.
