Throughout her personal and professional life – growing up, as fashion editor at Vogue, and later as bona fide bridal and ready-to-wear designer – Vera Wang has spent much time in Paris, so much in fact that she considers it something of a second home.

“Among my most memorable and enchanting experiences in Paris has always been Ladurée,” she recalled. “Whether it was tea sandwiches, shopping with my mother, or taking my daughters for lunch in St Germain, Ladurée has always been a part of my Parisian experience.”

She now took her connection to the City of Light a step further and turned it into a collaboration of desserts with Ladurée.

Vera Wang Pour Ladurée, launching this month, features a coconut crème chantilly macaron as well as a mango and coconut wedding cake – perfect for new couples with a sweet tooth.

The collaboration came into being after the designer had the opportunity to meet Elisabeth Holder, heir and President of Ladurée US. “Her talents for not just business, but the artisanal side of such a creative enterprise are so impressive,” Wang said. “I was thrilled to be able to collaborate with her on designing a bespoke wedding cake inspired by one of my gowns.”

This marks the first time a designer created a cake for the house and its Ladurée Wedding Collection. Of Wang, Holder said “she loves Paris and has that je ne sais quoi about her.”

Check out Vera Wang pour Ladurée in the windows of Ladurée Madison Avenue and SoHo locations through January 26. The cakes will be available for special order for the entire year via ladureeus@laduree.com. Take note: the macarons are limited in edition so get them while the inventory lasts.

As for Wang, her confections were “heaven at first bite for me. I could not imagine a more delicate or sophisticated creation to grace any couple’s celebration.
