Shortly after landing in Los Angeles, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists were whisked away to the screening room of NeueHouse to learn about the next CVFF step: the Instagram Challenge. And who better to relay the details than Instagram’s Head of Fashion Partnerships Eva Chen? Chen tasked the finalists with selecting a film that has inspired them and the direction of their brand. From The Godfather to MeanGirls, how did the costumes, mood, location, or even time period spark their creativityand translate into a single image to post on Instagram?
Seems easy enough. The catch? The designers also had to present the not-so-glamorous process that led to their final images on the platform’s newest tool: Instagram Stories.
The finalists had 48 hours from concept to execution before they unveiled their selections to a special judging panel that included a number of the Selection Committee Members as well as Sally Singer, Creative Digital Director of Vogue, and Chen.
