New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, in a slim-fitting Vera Wang Black tuxedo, waved down the rapper Vic Mensa, who was wearing a shiny red leather shirt and loose, black trousers from the CFDA Awards-nominated brand Pyer Moss.

“Vic!” the athlete said over the din of the room, before stopping to chat with the musician at the bar.

Two luminaries from two different industries, expressing their personal style in two totally different manners is exactly what the CFDA Fashion Awards are all about. And now that the official ceremony was over, attendees were ready to let loose.

Designers, influencers, and fashion lovers of all stripes gathered to celebrate the CFDA Fashion Awards, traveling from the Brooklyn Museum, where the ceremony was held, to Dumbo House, a private club nestled on the water’s edge. An expansive terrace gave way to spectacular views downtown New York’s glittering skyline, framed by the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, making for a picture perfect backdrop.

Revelers took advantage of the temperate June weather to lounge outside, sipping on beverages and catching up with friends old and new. Christian Siriano, who arrived earlier in the evening to the awards show with Whoopi Goldberg in one of his dramatic Barbie-pink creations, sat perched on a chair’s armrest, telling stories to a captivated group of gal pals. Much laughter was involved. Donna Karan wore a signature draped top and accessorized it with oversize dark shades while Naomi Campbell, fresh from being named CFDA Fashion Icon, shimmied in her blood red Calvin Klein dress dripping with fringe. Sies Marjan designer Sander Lak, winner of the Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent, was surrounded by a brightly-dressed coterie.

This after-party’s laid-back vibe was very Brooklyn in spirit,

In part thanks to the sprawling, low-key indoor/outdoor lounge atmosphere provided by DUMBO House. Issa Rae, coming off of her duties as awards host, looked ravishing in a bold, color blocked one-shoulder floor-length sheath. The ample space allowed for lots of relaxed mingling, but classic tunes played by the DJ encouraged some partygoers to boogie.

Cheeseburgers and hot dogs were being circulated and the notoriously food-averse fashion crowd allowed themselves to indulge. In fact, the burgers were a topic of conversation throughout the night. Lyft cars lined the cobblestoned lane outside of Dumbo House late into the night. Despite it being a Monday — a “school night” for many of the fashionable guests — the party went on into the wee morning hours.
