Community and ingenuity are traits that define American fashion.
At a time when much change is impacting the industry, 14 independent American designers have come together for a pop-up experience at the Hindman Gallery called The Collective.
Spearheaded by CFDA member Jonathan Cohen and his business partner Sarah Leff, the initiative gives designers an opportunity to engage directly with customers, share their stories, and create new growth channels for American fashion.
“We didn’t want to wait for a solution—we wanted to create one,” Cohen and Leff said. “The Collective is about taking control of our work, strengthening community, and turning an industry challenge into an opportunity to grow together.”
In addition to the retail experience, the pop-up will feature a press preview.
Participating designers are CFDA member brands Alejandra Alonso
Rojas, anOnlyChild, Batsheva, Christopher John Rogers, Gigi Burris, Hunting Season,
Jonathan Cohen, Rosie Assoulin, Selima Optique, Studio 189, and Theophilio. They are joined by Larroudé, Presley Oldham, and Ronny Kobo.
Per the press statement, “The Collective underscores the strength of
collaboration in fashion. It’s a rare opportunity for customers to engage with designers
directly and invest in pieces that speak to craftsmanship, community, and creativity.”
In addition to Hindman Gallery, partners included Christina Neault (Production), Ruffino, and The Hinton Group.
“The Collective” pop-up will be open from May 18–20 at Hindman Gallery, 32 East 67th Street.
