In time for the festive season, we checked in with Derek Lam, one of the designers in our new CFDA Loves The Holidays shop at the new Fred Segal at 8500 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. Lam loves everything about the holidays and especially Panetone. So do we!

Why did you agree to participate in the CFDA Loves the Holidays shop?

The Derek Lam denim collection is made up of many terrific items which anybody will be happy to receive as a gift on the holidays. So working with Fred Segal and the CFDA to put together this holiday pop-up shop makes it easy for shoppers to fill out their lists with ease and fun. Fred Segal always makes it fun to shop.

What do you love about the holiday season the most?

Celebrating with friends and family, decking out a tree, shopping for gifts…the traditional holiday spirit is a nice constant in a busy and ever-changing life.

What’s your favorite holiday treat or dish?

I love Italian Panetone, which is the candied fruit cake made just for the holidays. The Italian version is light and airy. Toasted with a little butter and your coffee is a perfect holiday morning start.
