Whitney Pozgay’s vibrant personal style and a sense of humor shine through in the designs for her Whit label, which is part of our first CFDA shop at Fred Segal called CFDA Loves LA. To celebrate the occasion, we checked in with the Brooklyn-based designer about why she loves LA and what excites her at Fred Segal.

Why did you agree to participate in the CFDA Loves LA shop?

We are New York-based, but I am originally from Arizona and my aesthetic always strays back west. Our bright colors and prints work well in California and we have seen more and more of our customers coming from LA. We are excited to be partnering with such an incredible institution like Fred Segal in tandem with our CFDA family.

What do you love about LA the most?

There is an incredible freedom in the accessibility to so many different environments. You are so close to the beach, the desert, and mountains in LA. You can name your own adventure any day of the week. I think it keeps people feeling light and easy.

What is the one must-have item of yours available in the shop?

The core of what we do is based in artful prints that are often made in collaboration with artist friends or people we seek out to work with. Our favorite print of the season is a Japan-inspired landscape painted by artist friend Jason Bereswill and featured in a pajama-inspired silk top with contrast piping and an asymmetrical button placket.

If you plan to buy an item from one of the other participating designers, what is it?

I love the beautiful knits that St. Roche and A Peace Treaty make. I’m looking forward to those for the upcoming cooler nights.
