Colette Malouf is what you call a real New Yorker. She grew up in downtown Manhattan entrenched in the budding art and design scene of that time, and has remained loyal to SoHo as she built her business with reimagined hair accessories and costume jewelry. Despite such loyalties, she loves Los Angeles and when she jumped at the opportunity to participate in the CFDA Loves LA shop-in-shop at the new Fred Segal on Sunset Boulevard. To celebrate this, we checked in with the designer to discuss all things LA.

Why did you agree to participate in the CFDA Loves LA shop?

Colette Malouf has stores in Japan, China, Korea and e-commerce operations in the U.S. We are planning to increase our retail presence through special retail events and expand sales in the U.S. Participating in the CFDA Loves LA shop is such a great opportunity to reinforce our presence on the West Coast.

What do you love about LA the most?

LA is a joyous city that combines being relaxed and productive at the same time.

What is the one must-have item of yours available in the shop?

The Steel U Hairpin, one of Colette Malouf’s signature items.
