LA-based Ashley Pittman’s sustainable jewelry company has a humanitarian backstory. She was inspired to create it after volunteering for the Clinton HIV/AIDS Foundation in Rwanda. The collection, handcrafted in Kenya by local artisans, benefit the Kamboo Dispensary and the Kathiani Primary School in rural Kenya. Her design pieces are available at the CFDA Loves LA shop-in-shop at the new Fred Segal on Sunset Boulevard,  and to celebrate this, we checked in with Pittman about LA and her must-have pieces in the store.

Why did you agree to participate in the CFDA Loves LA shop?

Fred Segal is an iconic store, so it’s an honor to be brought in alongside our fellow CFDA Members to showcase our pieces in this truly unique shopping destination.

What do you love about LA the most?

The weather of course is awesome but most of all there is so much culture, diversity and incredible design and talent in LA.  It’s a very inspiring place to live and work.

What is the one must-have item of yours available in the shop?

The Turquoise Vuka Earring is my day-to-day go-to style – it feels really bold and fun with little effort.

If you plan to buy an item from one of the other participating designers, what is it?

I’m obsessed with A Peace Treaty’s twin sets – excited to see more of their collection at the shop!
