To be a Member of the CFDA, which Eleanor Lambert founded in 1962, is to belong to an esteemed group of America’s foremost apparel, jewelry, eyewear and accessory designers.
Today, the CFDA Membership includes designers behind large, globally-successful brands—Tory Burch, Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, Thom Browne, Michael Kors, Anna Sui, Rick Owens, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, Tommy Hilfiger—alongside more recently recognized design talents Willy Chavarria, Christopher John Rogers, Catherine Holstein, Daniel Roseberry, Rachel Scott, Henry Zankov and more.
“As a membership organization, the Council is focused on increased Member engagement and overall community amongst peers. The 2026 New Members are noteworthy for their commitment to creative excellence and the industry recognition they have achieved to date. We are eager to welcome this dynamic and laudable group of designers,” said Lisa Smilor, Executive Vice President, CFDA.
To apply for Membership, candidates must be of recognized ability, standing and integrity, and actively engaged in designing, producing and selling collections of exemplary creativity and quality. The admissions process takes place annually. Applications are reviewed by a specially appointed admissions committee, which presents its recommendations to the Board of Directors for ratification; candidates are then officially elected as Members by a majority vote of the CFDA membership.
