The CFDA x NY Forward Grant Fund, developed by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in partnership with New York State’s Department of State through the NY Forward initiative, supports innovation and local production within New York City’s Garment District.
The grant provides partially matching support of up to two-thirds (⅔) of eligible costs for new machinery and directly related expenses, including machinery-tied capital improvements, associated software required to operate the equipment, and associated training.
Eligible applicants must lease or own production space within the Garment District Strategic Investment Area, which spans from 34th Street to 42nd Street, and from 5th Avenue to 9th Avenue, excluding Bryant Park, be a registered business generating revenue for at least two years, and have under $10 million in annual net revenue. Eligible businesses include fashion contract manufacturers, innovative fabric or materials producers, and brands with small-batch in-house production. Certified minority- and women-owned businesses are encouraged to apply.
Applications are open now through March 3, 2026, at 5:00 PM ET. Applicants should carefully review the 2026 Program Brief prior to applying, as it outlines eligibility requirements, required materials, and the selection process and timeline.
