Tatiana Hambro Shares her Fall Essentials Guide

December 10, 2019

Nicky Campbell

As Deputy Editor of online retailer Moda Operandi, Tatiana Hambro is well-acquainted with all things fashion. After cutting her teeth at British Vogue, Hambro joined the online retailer where she oversees content ranging from trunk show reviews to editorial features. Through her work, she has familiarized herself with the hottest emerging designers (of which the platform has plenty) and established luxury brands. Given her extensive knowledge of the industry, she makes the perfect candidate to curate our December editor guide.

Below, take a look at her must-have fall essentials from Proenza Schouler to Nellie Partow.

Danielle Frankel, Ruby Silk Wool Gown, $5990, modaoperandi.com

Danielle Frankel

Danielle’s runner-up win this year is so well deserved; I’ve had my eye on her for a while and really appreciate the unique creativity she’s bringing to bridal. Alas, I’m no longer in the market for a wedding gown, however I’m a big advocate of winter white—especially when it comes to black tie.

Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh, Textured-Leather Ankle Boots, $995, modaoperandi.com

The Boot

When it comes to footwear, I’m currently tending toward Chelsea or combat boots—they add a ‘90s edge, making everything feel that much cooler. There’s an office rumour that you can open beer bottles with the silver hardware on this Off-White pair. Sold!

The Elder Statesman, Yosemite Dégradé Cashmere Socks, $205, modaoperandi.com

Cashmere Socks

Fall means boots, which require proper socks (lest you love blisters), so why not make them special? For me, The Elder Statesman sets the bar for the most covetable cashmere. These will also be travelling with me  on the plane.

Partow, Everly A-Line Crepe Midi Skirt, $598, modaoperandi.com

The Bourgeois Skirt

Enter… Partow’s midi skirt! (Note: it has hidden pockets.) Ever since Hedi’s Fall ‘19 collection for Celine, I’ve found myself partial to a bit of bourgeois. Plus, midi lengths are my wardrobe saviours—I live a healthy subway ride away from work and rarely bother going back home to change for the evening. It’s such a versatile hemline that’s easy to style with every kind of shoe.

Proenza Schouler, Draped Cashmere Pullover Sweater, $1090, modaoperandi.com

The Luxe Knit

I am forever-freezing, so inspiring knitwear occupies a very special place in my heart. I love the draped scarf detail on this deconstructed sweater by Proenza Schouler—chic with something high waisted.

Rebecca de Ravenel, I See Stars Earrings Gold-Plated Crystal Clip Earrings, $250, modaoperandi.com

Festive Earrings

Around this time of year I begin carrying costume jewelry in my purse—you never know when you might be in need of a festive touch. Statement styles from my talented friend Rebecca de Ravenel always seem to garner the most compliments.

Khaite, Loie Ribbed Stretch-Knit Midi Dress, $630, modaoperandi.com

The All-Occasion Dress

I love Catherine Holstein’s approach knitwear: it’s sexy, sculpted and silhouette-grazing, yet still completely effortless. The Loie dress is a great example of something I’d wear over shirting or even jeans for the office, and then remove the layers before stepping out for the night.

Hunting Season, Suede Trunk Crossbody, $680, modaoperandi.com

Something Green

When it comes to accessories, I often look to hunter green as an alternative to neutral—it’s a really versatile color and looks amazing with black or brown. Hunting Season designer Danielle Corona uses really beautiful leathers and timeless silhouettes. Her signature trunk is forever classic.
