Since his work kept him tied to the U.S. this summer, Luis Fernandez spent his time with family and friends in some of his most treasured places. Jetting back and forth between his home in Los Angeles, Ithaca (home to his alma matter, Cornell University), Sag Harbor, D.C., and Florida, the CFDA member still managed to find time for work and leisure.
Its no surprise that Fernandez is busier than ever. While he got his start in fashion, he is now a highly sought-after architect and interior designer. In fact, he started the summer by making ELLE Décor’s coveted A-List 100, a much-coveted achievement in the field. Also a lover of photography, Fernandez documented his travels this summer far and wide. Relive the summer through his eyes below:
“The summer started out with a big bang, it was quite an honor to be named to ELLE DÉCOR’s A-List 100 in June, and attend ED’s A-List 100 event in NYC at the newly opened Casa Lever.”
“It was quite a treat to go back to my alma matter Cornell after many years; and it was even better to share the visit and the campus with my teenage son.”
“Along with many improvements that made the campus look more beautiful than ever, especially in the summer “Ithaca is gorges” indeed.”
“An architectural / interior design project in Sag Harbor in the final stages of construction kept me coming back to the East Coast this summer, always so nice to spend any time in the Hamptons and see old friends.”
“The Fourth of July had a super special meaning this year, getting to celebrate on the South Lawn of The White House with my family, friends, AND with the Bidens.”
“Back on the East Coast, it was quite a treat to have fellow CFDA Member Lisa Perry give me a tour of her new pop-up Art Gallery in a restored Mid Century Modern marvel: the Onna House in East Hampton.”
“In LA, one of my Hollywood Hills PROJECTs is almost ready to be unveiled. the new terraced terrazzo lounging deck and pool looks quite tempting to jump into during some record high temps this summer.”
“Getting some leisure time in LA, I try to play tennis any free minute I get (which is really nice during sunset over the city lights on a clear summer night).”
“A trip to South Florida to visit family was a bit extra hot and humid this summer, but being up early enough to catch the sunrise over the ocean turned out to be quite spectacular.”
