Last season, Omar Salam wowed the audience with his New York Fashion Week debut. This time around, the new CFDA member showcased his collection digitally on RUNWAY360 – and the glamourous result had even more impact.
The Senegalese designer, who cut his teeth working for Sonia Rykiel and Christian Lacroix for example, has been a fashion force in the industry since launching his collection in 2012 and garnering support from a celebrity clientele, Naomi Campbell among them. While the high-glamour sensibility that defines the designer still takes center stage in for Spring 2021, he presented a welcome dose of everyday chic via casual luxe sweaters.
The craftsman draws inspiration from a variety of vibrant cultures from the African continent – utilizing traditional braiding and weaving techniques – through a modern perspective. The result is a magnificent collection that celebrates beauty and instills hope while expressing the “essence of inner beauty and unique spirit that is womanhood.” Check it out!
